Today I noticed, on the WeChat wall of a girl who works as beergirl at Lovely food court, a photo with lots of rupiah and a USD $50 note with the caption "Today tips!"

I congratulated for the very good day and I asked who gave her USD $50 as tip (1 single note worth 650k rupiah!). She replied that a group of Korean tourists, first time in Batam, were very happy for the beers she served and gave her good tip. Good tip?? USD $50 for beers?? :eek:
Now everyone understands why a 100k tip today does not lead so far as years ago during a massage session...

Last year wen i was there,the crowd @ hf reminds me of wen the SG MRT broke dwn big time. Tis year w the super LWE,i'm sure the crowd is gng 2 be bigger.

Everywhere all over asia also same,Sg & M'sia even worse. Everyone also knw impossible to stop,but at least can try slow it down,rite?

Syt in batam ard 1 mill rp can get,no need pay until 150 so high. Jus that sg ppl richer nw, so choose to pay that amt thinking they're getting xclusive.

Those time when syt at 50 was when exchg rate below/ard 5k/sgd,today rate all 9k/sgd above,last 2 years also got sm mths that reach until 10k/sgd. So plus minus,even tho still up on price but not as high as some wld claim it to be.


Don't forget some older hotels of yester-years also price dwn & today btm still can get below 30 sgd rm. Batam still 1 of the cheapest & most value of all 3rd world asia.

I haven't factor in sg ppl's salary increase over last 15 years yet.

It's just my point of view.
