The only immigration staff I greet are those in Thailand, Myanmar & our very own ICA cos they are both smiling & polite officers, the other cuntries never give problems but I have not seen them smiled before so also never greet them.
Its all subjective, sometimes the Ang Mo gets cleared extremely fast, sometimes the vietnamese gets grilled by the custom officer why they travelled overseas for what purpose, especially if its is a pretty VB

so depend on your luck & circumstances.
