-- According to the Ministry of Finance, by the end of October, around 119,800 tons of rice from the national reserves had been used to help people in central provinces which suffered marine-environment problems as well as underprivileged students.
-- Tong Quoc Truong, general director of Vietlott, the company that runs the ‘Mega 6/45’ computerized lottery in Vietnam, on Wednesday confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that a person from the southern region may have won the second jackpot worth over VND64 billion (US$2.86 million). Last month, a farmer in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh became the first winner of the jackpot, worth more than VND92 billion ($4.11 million).
-- Ho Chi minh City officials have recently agreed to pilot three 12-seat electric bus routes.
-- Police in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on Wednesday found Nguyen Quang Loc, 26, who had got lost in a local forest for seven days. The man was found naked, suffering exhaustion and ulcers.
-- Dong Nai International Hospital in the southern city of Bien Hoa said it had successfully removed a 0.5kg goiter from a 61-year-old patient who had carried the tumor for the past 10 years.

-- The state-run oil and gas group PetroVietnam will import 12 million tons of coal per year to meet the demand of three coal-fired power plants it has invested in.

-- A children’s painting exhibition will be organized on November 6 at Kim Dong Bookstore in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, to raise funds for 45 child patient surgeries this month.
-- A group of young authors are launching a crowdfunding drive to publish their pop-up book titled ‘Sai Gon Pho’ (The Town of Saigon) in the hope of raising VND150 million ($6,696) in one month. The book spotlighting the city’s landmarks including Ben Thanh Market, the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, the Municipal Theater, and Nha Rong Wharf has been praised by the municipal Department of Tourism.
