Woman arrested for allegedly kidnapping 2-year-old in Vietnam

Police have made the urgent arrest of a woman in north-central Vietnam to investigate the alleged kidnapping of a two-year-old boy

Dao Thi Danh, 48, was captured by Can Loc District police officers in Ha Tinh Province on Saturday after she was found in the company of a missing boy.

According to the local administration, two-year-old Luong Khac Thanh was dropped off at his father’s house in Can Loc District by his mother on the day.

At 9:00 am, Danh, who is the father’s acquaintance, came by for a visit. Minutes later, she took Thanh away to another house in the neighborhood.

As Thanh’s mother, Than Thi Gia, returned to pick him up only to find an empty house, she cried for help and initiated a search that was joined by other neighbors.

At around 10:00 am the same day, locals found Thanh at a house in the neighborhood in the company of Danh.

Suspecting the woman to be a kidnapper, hundreds of locals surrounded the house to prevent Danh from escaping.

Police officers arrived moments later to maintain order and disperse the hysterical mob.

At 4:45 pm, Can Loc police issued an order for the urgent arrest of Dao Thi Danh for an investigation into her alleged child kidnapping.
