Hope u learn something from this trip, never cheong there without advance booking with super long weekend, I also went batam on 8/8/09, call Wavemaster to book ticket 2 days earlier, Manage to take the 11.30 ferry. Once I reach batam I go to the Departure hall immedately to get the boarding pass and tell the counter staff that I am leaving on 10/8/09 at 12.15. This way I am assure of a seat when I pulang home. A group of aunties and uncles make hell of noises when they learn that the next ferry is 2130 when they reach Harbourbay ferry terminal at 1130. Die already lah...how to work tomorrow...must take 1 more day leave lor.
For booking hotel, the most exp is to book on line, secound is walk in, the cheaper is to but hotel voucher, 1 at the ferry terminal after u clear immgration, another opposite harmoni hotel call KAHA. The different between hotel voucher and walk in is not great, about 20000 - 40000rp only. This also depend on the hotel itself and whether got breadfast (1 pax or 2 pax)
