Conclusion is that if you're looking for ABAC students, you'd be better off at Thonglor/Ekamai. If you're after Ram students, try RCA area.

Only good thing about the Huamak/lung Ram area is that it has a nice seafood restaurant opposite the stadium, next to the hotel. And it's proximity to Srinakarin.
