You can buy a house, but the land lease is 30yrs, need to renew every 30yrs. And it is from the time they built it, not the time you bought. So better just buy those in housing development, not those near roadside. But can only buy under "right to use", one of the 3 types of ownership in Batam, need to convert the deed from ""right of ownership" to "right of use" for most cases, just go to a lawyer and they can explain to you clearly, the fee years back was S$2500.00. Then you need pay stamp duty, but just few million Rp.
