Yes bahasa indo and bahasa melayu is about 80-90% similar. Sometimes misunderstanding of the meaning can happen. For example like stating time : 2.30pm
bahasa indo : jam setengah tiga (3pm deduct half hour)
bahasa melayu : pukul dua setengah (2pm add half hour)

Therefore have to take note when making appointment with cewek.

Other difference in words are listed below (Bahasa indo follow by Bahasa melayu) :

capet penat
jorok kotor
kantor pejabat
mobil kreta
sore petang
toko kedai
enak sedap

The word pecuma in indo means no use but in malay means free of charge.
